Description

Assistant Director of Security and Safety

The Assistant Director of Security and Safety is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students staff and visitors through education relationships and a capacity to respond rapidly during critical incidents. This is a full time yearround salaried exempt position and working some evenings and weekends for school events is required. This position will generally work from 10am6pm and may be adjusted with the needs of the department as directed by the Director of Security and Safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise security staff and manage schedules
  • Develop implement and update the schools comprehensive safety and emergency response plans.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments of the schools facilities grounds and procedures.
  • Assist with leading safety drills (fire lockdown evacuation etc. and ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
  • Coordinate training and incident response with local law enforcement fire and emergency response teams.
  • Serve as one of the points of contact for all safetyrelated incidents and provide incident reporting and followup.
  • Train staff faculty and students on safety protocols emergency procedures and response to threats.
  • Monitor and support visitor management access control and surveillance systems.
  • Work with faculty and staff to promote a culture of safety and preparedness.
  • Support mental health and wellness initiatives by contributing to crisis intervention and behavioral threat assessments.
  • Work cooperatively and maintain existing school relationships with FWPD contract officers
  • Maintain high visibility throughout the school day
  • Working knowledge of Texas school/private school laws
  • Maintain keys camera system access control system safety app public announcement system alarm systems and radio communication
  • Update the crisis management plan annually and lead practice drills with faculty/staff
  • Help oversee parking operations including parking decals and speed limit enforcement
  • Conduct inspections to identify fire safety and security risks; recommend and implement solutions
  • Submit and review incident reports and work orders related to fire safety and security
  • Assist with training schedule and evaluate security department personnel police officers and contract officers and conduct timely and constructive performative evaluations
  • Instruct students and faculty on matters of personal safety campus safety and preventive safety
  • Assist with planning coordinating and supervising safety education programs
  • Familiar with OSHA standards and practice and facilitate training.
  • Monitor guests and vendors who are on campus.
  • Assist with managing budget inventory and purchasing
  • Coordinate with fire department personnel concerning inspections and codes
  • Equipment inspections to include but not limited to AED stop the bleed kits lab equipment and asbestos inspections
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and/or Law Enforcement/Security Experience required.
  • License to carry firearm preferred
  • Computer work is required
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle required
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Prior school security or emergency management experience is preferred
  • Surveillance camera system/access control system/building alarm system experience preferred
  • Preemployment physical required
