Washington County Children and Youth is seeking a professional individual to join our Casework team. Apply today and help us make a difference!




DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Employees in this class provide a full range of social and case management services to children youth and families to assist them in attaining a more satisfactory social economic emotional or physical adjustment. An important aspect of this work is the employment of casework skills in obtaining essential information counseling clients and members of their families and to help them utilize all available resources.

Newly hired Children & Youth Caseworkers work under the general supervision of a Casework Supervisor for a 6month probationary period and complete training consisting of both classroom and fieldwork assignments.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Fulltime employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
    • This position includes working evening and weekend hours as well as performing oncall duties.
  • This position will automatically progress to a Caseworker II after completion of one year of service at an hourly rate of $25.67 per hour $50056.50/year).
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience andTraining Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology social welfare psychology gerontology criminal justice or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelors degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology social welfare psychology gerontology criminal justice or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology social welfare psychology gerontology criminal justice or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including but not limited to PA State Police clearance PA Child Abuse history clearance and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
