Job Description
Molecular Technologies at Mayo Clinic provides expertise in DNA/molecular genetic testing for both congenital disorders and oncology. Our boardcertified laboratory directors are leaders in the field of genetic testing. In collaboration with laboratory technologists supervisors and genetic counselors they continually work to improve assays by increasing mutation detection rates and decreasing turnaround time.

Position Responsibilities:
- Performs analyses on blood tissue and body fluids to aid health care providers in the diagnosis prognosis and treatment of patients.
- Testing is performed in specialized laboratories and may include highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing using sophisticated instrumentation.
- Responsibilities may include but are not limited to instrument operation and maintenance troubleshooting assays evaluating tests for accuracy assisting with interpreting results and operational support activities to optimize testing.
- Works with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results.
- May work with minimal supervision and may assist with specimen collection.
- Must strictly adhere to safety protocols to work with infectious specimens chemicals and other hazards.
- Must be capable of producing accurate results under time constraints multitasking and performing in a fastpaced and changing environment.
- Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and assay systems is desirable.
- Must possess good communication skills and be able to work closely with others.
- Must be able to accommodate scheduling adjustments offshifts holiday oncall and weekend work assignments.

*Individuals hired to this position are asked to complete 2 years in the role before being eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic*
**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F1 STEM OPT extension program.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position you must have a bachelors degree in chemistry or a biological science and you must be a current student at Texas Tech University.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and assay systems is desirable.
- Must be capable of producing accurate results under time constraints multitasking and performing in a fastpaced and changing environment.
- Must possess good communication skills and be able to work closely with others.
