Job Title: Medical Technologist / Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Duration: 1 year with the possibility of a 4 year extension
Shift Schedule:
- 80 hours per two-week period 10 hours based on laboratory needs
- Shift rotation required (days evenings nights weekends holidays)
License / Certifications:
- ASCP Certification (or equivalent board certification)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Current malpractice insurance
- All immunizations per RSU requirements including COVID-19 Hepatitis B MMR etc.
Education:
- Degree in Medical Technology Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent
Minimum Qualification / Experience:
- Minimum 12 months of recent experience in a high-complexity hospital laboratory (within the past 36 months)
- Demonstrated blood banking experience required
- Proficient in using lab software (EHR LIS RPMS etc.)
Responsibilities:
Core Diagnostic Duties:
- Perform a broad range of diagnostic laboratory tests including:
- Hematology Chemistry Blood Banking Urinalysis Serology Microbiology
- Collect label and analyze patient specimens (phlebotomy and capillary techniques)
- Operate maintain and troubleshoot high-complexity lab equipment
- Maintain daily quality control and Levey-Jennings compliance per CLIA HIPAA and JCAHO standards
- Accurately document patient results in EHR and paper records
Administrative & Compliance:
- Ensure HIPAA/CMS/JCAHO and IHS protocols are upheld
- Assist in lab-related surveys audits equipment repairs and documentation
- Comply with all infection control procedures and patient rights protocols
- Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Performance Improvement (PI) activities
- Submit Quarterly Satisfaction Surveys and participate in Annual Reviews
Clinical Environment Contributions:
- Work across multiple shifts and laboratory sections including satellite labs
- Respond in emergencies (e.g. cardiac arrest/anaphylaxis)
- Foster culturally competent care for Native American populations
- Attend staff meetings and continuing education/training sessions as required
Technical Knowledge:
- Operate instruments like Siemens EXLWLM EXL200 Coulter DXH 900 Sysmex CS-2500 Cepheid and Ortho ID-MTS
- Ensure readiness of instruments through calibration maintenance and documentation
