Position Summary:

The Project Manager II will lead enterprise efforts to establish implement and monitor activities associated with Engineering Services and Aircraft modifications in support of the Lakota Program. Coordinate activities of all involved departments establish planning provide risk assessment analysis review budget and participate to vendor selection/ management to ensure ontime completion of the Engineering Services retrofit and line implementation.

Position Responsibilities:

Manage Lakota Modification and Upgrade Projects: 40

  • The incumbent will carry business responsibility over projects to modify or upgrade Army aircraft. Such modification efforts consist of customer requested changes companyinitiated product improvements compliance with changing regulations and lifecycle cost reduction programs.

Ensure requirements milestones timelines and resources are clearly defined and identified for all assigned projects: 35

  • Responsible for managing and coordinating Lakota projects as it relates to Engineering Services Prototyping Certification and Aircraft modification teams.
  • Responsible for managing other strategic Lakota Program projects as required.
  • Define project need as required by the US Army.
  • Define schedule and major milestones in support of the Engineering Services and Modifications.
  • Track successful ontime/ onbudget completion of all milestones.
  • Perform resolution and risk mitigation with Mississippi and Grand Prairie management personnel.
  • Provide Engineering and Technical Expertise for feasibility design & certification of the equipment packages.
  • Capture cost and track budget expenditures.
  • Inform Program Director of technical problems delays and/or critical shortages.
  • Participate and lead as required the Engineering weekly conference with GVT.

Maintain liaison across the organization to ensure project : 20

  • Sustain full scale retrofit and prototype efforts to support inhouse and field modification requirements.
  • Coordinate with all support functions to ensure on time cost and quality delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA/ DCMA regulations and internal procedures accordingly.
  • Conduct regular reviews of performance indicators related to Modification activities and budgets.

  • This position is not intended to be allinclusive and the employee will also perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience required.
  • Masters degree in Engineering preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience with Department of Defense programs or commercial aviation related experience in either a technical and/or business capacity.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Project Management.
  • Experience in aviation system certification and integration is a plus.
  • Must have technical knowledge to comprehend technical data packages.
  • Knowledgeable on FAA/ DCMA regulations.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft products.
  • Must have financial experience to be able to manage project financial performance including activity analysis adjustment planning and financial control.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and be proactive.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • A&P license or A&P with Inspection Authorization is a plus but not required

Knowledge Skills Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Must understand Department of Defense acquisition process and programmatic government contracts subcontracts commercial helicopter production logistics and training.
  • Proven ability to ensure among a complex multicompany multinational team.
  • Must be able to multitask efficiently to ensure desired outcomes.
  • A high level of integrity and an understanding of the importance of protecting the interest of the company while also assuring customer satisfaction is critical.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and presentation skills required. Must present clear and concise briefings and reports to customers and executives.

Technical Systems Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office Suite with proficiency in Project desired.

Travel Required: 20 Domestic and International

Job Dimensions Contributions to Success:

Oversee Engineering and Programmatically drive to completion successful modification projects up to but not limited to $100M in value. Execute strategic plans that align with Customer and Company objectives.

Nature of Contacts: Involved Communication on a frequent Basis with internal and external parties

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite: 90 When not on Travel
  • Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens able to read documents reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: Daily able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer telephone copies fax machine and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Daily able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment.
  • Carrying: Monthly able to carry documents tools drawings electronic equipment up to 20lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: Monthly able to lift documents tools drawings electronic equipment up to 20lbs/14kgs.
  • Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: Weekly able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: Monthly able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.
  • Travel: Up to 20 able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes but is not limited to Safety Shoes Safety Glasses Hearing Protection Respirators/Masks and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
