Department Information

The University makes available a broad array of credit and noncredit courses seminars and workshops through the Division of Extended Studies. Some programs are offered on campus and others at offcampus sites including in Colorado Springs at Fort Carson in Douglas County in Huerfano County at public high schools throughout the state of Colorado and more.


The Division of Extended Studies (ES) provides courses to fulltime parttime and non traditional students. Many educational methods classroom instruction correspondence courses online courses conferences workshops and seminars are utilized to expand educational access and meet the needs of students at convenient times and settings. Students may earn academic credit toward a degree study for career advancement or pursue cultural and avocational interests.

Description of Job

The High School Programs Specialist position is responsible for administering the daily tasks of High School Programs with particular focus on Dual Enrollment Senior to Sophomore. This fulltime administrative professional position works closely with various campus departments students and parents to increase program enrollment course offerings teaching personnel and to assist in the transition of high school students to postsecondary enrollment at CSU Pueblo.

This program works closely with the Assoc Director of Academic Pathways & Programs to support various operational and business functions to ensure the programs success.

Primary Duties
Program Support

  • Provides administrative functions and office support to ensure success and growth in High School Programs.
  • Works with school district administrators to identify areas of growth to expand dual enrollment program opportunities for students.
  • Coordinates with Director of Finance Strategy & Operations to develop and disseminate Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) for department and legal review; collects and submits instructor and course credentials for review and approval by Department Chairs for Higher Learning Commission (HLC) compliance and National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) accreditation.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of correspondence and student records in adherence with FERPA guidelines.
  • Establishes and carries out timelines for program operations to program liaisons and instructors satellite campus and departmental staff and other campus departments.
  • Develops and coordinates semester course schedule builds and maintenance with departmental staff to ensure timely operation of the program each semester.
  • Provides administrative support for program planning and of events to include meeting planning program event scheduling course builds preparation of event materials payment of invoices and other financial support
  • Evaluates and identifies areas for growth in program offerings and partner schools in rural surrounding areas to increase student enrollment and instructor participation.
  • Assists in the development administration and data management of results of a student satisfaction assessment to be administered each semester and evaluates responses to identify areas needing improvement within the program.

School Personnel/Student Support

  • Onboards and provides training to liaisons and instructors on uses of campus systems to register students verify enrollments post grades and retrieve student academic records.
  • Provides a high level of support technical guidance and verification processes in Banner for student registration and reporting purposes.
  • Develops and delivers orientation sessions for students and their parents to clarify admissions financial aid registration processes and other academic policies.
  • Refers students to additional campus services to ensure increased academic success and satisfaction in the program. Collaborates with other campus departments to assist students in their transition to postsecondary enrollment at CSU Pueblo or other institutions.
  • Oversees the student registration process. Verifies information against report data for thirdparty billing.
  • Monitors student course progress and completion troubleshoots and resolves registration errors. Assists students with add/drop withdrawals College Opportunity Fund (COF) authorizations registration holds and student billing.
  • Ensures the technical needs of the program for instructors and students are met and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with the University Track Center Admissions Counselors and Pack Center to support enrollment for college after participating in the High School Programs opportunity.
Recruitment & Marketing
  • Works with the Marketing Specialist to promote the program in print on the website on social medial platforms and via text messaging.
  • Attends and hosts functions orientations or other information sessions outside of normal business hours as necessary to promote the program meet with high school personnel students and their families and other campus partners to increase awareness about and enrollment in programs.

$45000 $55000

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Adobe enterprise information systems (Banner) and digital workflow systems (Formstack)
  • Effective written communication skills
  • Experience and/or commitment to motivate educate and mentor students from a wide range of backgrounds similar to that of Colorado State University Pueblo
  • Experience in positions or activities that required:
    • an ability to think critically and solve complex problems
    • effective verbal communication skills
  • Experience in a customer service role
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree
  • Advanced working knowledge of Banner
  • Knowledge of regional accreditation and higher education regulatory processes
  • Experience working with high school students in an academic setting
  • Experience in academic advising
