The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County provides opportunities for people to connect with nature. We offer to the public 60 forest preserves 166 miles of trails 47 miles of rivers and streams and 6 nature and cultural centers. We have 6 million visitors each year.
The Districts mission is to acquire and hold lands containing forests prairies wetlands and associated plant communities or lands capable of being restored to such natural conditions for the purpose of protecting and preserving the flora fauna and scenic beauty for the education pleasure and recreation of its citizens.
Job Summary
This position supports the food and beverage operations at the Greenway Tap restaurant by performing a variety of customer service tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and food items such as hot dogs sandwiches and snacks to guests.
Follow BASSET guidelines for checking Identification and stopping service to individuals that appear intoxicated.
Maintain a safe clean sanitary and organized workstation including equipment tables shelves and floors. Ensure that workstations are adequately stocked with food items and supplies and that equipment is in working order.
Set up and break down the bar workstation including slicing fruits for cocktails.
Operate a PointofSale system to process customer payments.
Operate a coffee maker and prepare sandwiches using a turbochef oven.
Assist service and bar staff in serving duties in all areas of the restaurant.
Assist service and bus staff in cleaning and sanitizing tables and countertops in the dining area.
Perform setup tear down and restocking duties for special events.
Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits; Become familiar with and observe all applicable safety rules policies and work procedures; Follow all safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Districts safety and risk management program; Keep work area clean orderly and free of hazards; Immediately report all unsafe conditions and incidents.
Maintain a supportive working environment and demonstrate a desire to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers.
Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
21 years of age or older at time of hire.
6 months of experience as a bartender in a highvolume restaurant environment.
Must have and maintain CPR AED and First Aid certification or obtain upon hire (training provided).
Must have and maintain Illinois Food Handler Training and Certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
Must have and maintain Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) or obtain within 30 days of hire.
Strong customer service skills and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of restaurant sanitation standards and food safety procedures.
Basic knife skills.
Schedule: Position starts on or after March 16th. Variable schedule during the golf season based on business needs may include weekdays and/or weekends. Shifts may be any time between 7 AM and sunset.
Pay: $9.00 per hour plus tips.

Work Environment: Requires working indoors and outdoors including in walkin coolers and freezers. Exposure to all weather conditions heating appliances and sharp objects including knives.
