About the Role
Man is undergoing a significant infrastructure project in 2025 and we are searching for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract basis to help us hit our goals. Youll tackle the day to day running of the infrastructure while helping deliver on critical project work.
As a Linux Infrastructure Engineer here youll be faced with a wide variety of challenges. We value a passion for technology and see leading edge technology as a part of keeping the business at the forefront of our field. Youll be doing work on Linux servers Virtualized Linux desktops HPC compute Kubernetes cloud and virtualization technology high performance storage as well as monitoring and visualisation techniques.
This is a handson technological role which also includes advising and guiding teams on architecture relating to our infrastructure. Were looking for people who have a broad knowledge of infrastructure technologies strong troubleshooting skills and were interested in hearing if you bring a particular expertise into the team.
Man runs a hybrid working model we aim for this individual do 4 days a week in office.
What can you learn
- Managing large internal data centres with tens of thousands of cores and hundreds of terabytes of memory running Python at scale.
- Building and managing Man Groups infrastructure both onpremises and in the cloud using technologies such as Python Go Linux Ansible Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Writing software to automate infrastructure and creating flexible selfservice technology for thousands of users across Man Group.
- Maintaining reliable systems while administering petabytescale storage and large CPU and GPU deployments managed by for example Spark.
- Working closely with business stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
Key Skills & Experience
- Technical experience gained through opensource contributions 2 years of relevant industry experience
- Experience working with any of the following programming or scripting languages for example Python Go C or C. You should feel confident reading and writing code in some language. We dont have a strong preferences on programming language you already know but we primarily write Python here.
- Experience working with configuration management tools such as Terraform Ansible Chef Puppet or Salt.
- Experience working with Linux at scale.
Desirable Key skills & experiences:
- Understanding of how source control and continuous deployment workflows work with tools like git and Jenkins.
- Orchestration tooling like Kubernetes.
- Selforganised with the ability to prioritise and effectively manage time across multiple projects.
- Excellent communication and problemsolving skills.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Selfstarter with a desire to learn and understand more about the business environment in which you work.
