This is a remote position.
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Ruby on Rails) to join our team. You have to be deep expertise in Ruby on Rails to lead the development of our backend services. Our frontend application is built in React and the Rails back end powers it through a robust API. This is a key role with high ownership you ll drive architecture build new endpoints manage integrations (including social media authentication) and work closely with our product team to bring features to life.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable maintainable Rails APIs.
- Own the authentication and integration flows with social media platforms e.g. Instagram TikTok YouTube).
- Collaborate with frontend engineers working in React to ensure seamless API communication.
- Maintain and improve existing Rails infrastructure.
- Write clean secure and welltested code.
- Participate in code reviews architecture discussions and product planning.
- Take full ownership of backend systems you build and maintain.
Requirements
- 57 years of professional experience in software engineering with a strong focus on Ruby on Rails.
- Experience designing and building APIs for frontend consumption.
- Prior experience on a remote team you re comfortable working independently and communicating asynchronously.
- A strong sense of ownership initiative and accountability.
- Experience with thirdparty authentication especially for social media platforms.
- Experience with React or collaborating with React frontend teams.
