Job Description
Primary Function of Position:
Intuitive Surgical Inc. produces the da Vinci Surgical System a minimally invasive robotic surgery system that uses highly complex mechanics replaceable instruments and accessories and enhanced threedimensional visualization to extend surgical technique and precision beyond the limits of the human hand. The Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting Service readiness for all incoming new products and the transfer of product to the sustaining team. This position will work closely with the engineering teams in the assembly documentation and testing of new product concepts. This person is directly responsible for executing test protocols documenting results evaluating new manufacturing process instructions and providing feedback to engineering and service manufacturing. In addition the person will assist with developing and maintaining tooling fixtures and a clean wellorganized workspace. A strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward is required as well as a commitment to high product quality.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- RMA line support for FA Repair and Final Test of products.
- Use hand tools to disassemble assemble and repair mechanical and electrical components.
- Design build test and provide guidance on development of test fixtures and engineering prototypes.
- Provide process feedback to the engineering service and training teams.
- Assist with developing and updating Service RMA procedures.
- Support IQ/OQ/PQ processes and revalidation of equipment fixtures and tooling.
- Support training of service operations technicians within mechanical and electronic assemblies.
- Maintain 5S standards in assigned work areas.
- Provide Manufacturing Systems Production support.
Qualifications :
Skills Experience Education & Training:
- BS in Engineering or STEM strongly preferred with no experience necessary or minimum High School diploma (or equivalent) and AS in Engineering or STEM with a minimum 1 year of experience.
- Education requirement may be waived for internal candidates with 5 years of experience with Intuitive.
- Effective use of troubleshooting and measurement equipment like oscilloscopes multimeters function generators test platforms.
- Familiarity with hand tools and handling techniques for delicate electrical and mechanical components.
- Must have good communication and documentation skills.
- Must have problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Selfstarter and motivated to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Proficient in MS Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Prefer proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks and knowledge of GD&T.
- Prefer experience with Agile and SAP.
- Prefer knowledge of GMP GDP & Quality Systems Regulations.
- Prefer familiarity with machining practices for components or fixture modification.
- Ability to perform repetitious duties while standing/sitting for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- An Engineering Technician will need to potentially travel up to 10 of the time.
