Job Description

Western Digital is seeking an intern to join the HDD Wafer Manufacturing Sensor Team in Fremont CA. As a Process Development Intern you will collaborate with experienced engineers and technologists to contribute to the development of advanced sensor technologies. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Depositing and characterizing tunneling magnetoresistive (TMR) sensor films focusing on magnetic and transport properties such as TMR film magnetic moment crystal structure and the TMR effect. Techniques used will include VSM TEM and XRF/XRR.
  2. Analyzing the process margins of new TMR sensor films through Design of Experiments (DOE) varying individual film thickness thermal cycling and other parameters.

Qualifications :

REQUIRED

  • Currently pursuing a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Material Science Physics or a related field with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who do not require relocation to Fremont CA.

SKILLS

  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Experience with processes such as transmission electron microscopy vibratingsample magnetometry and XRay Reflectometry (XRR) and microspot XRay Fluorescence (XRF)
