Job Description

Position Summary

The Biology Department at the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint Johns University (SJU) invites applications for a fulltime 1.0 FTE) threeyear term benefiteligible position of Visiting Assistant Professor.

The Biology Department has 13 fulltime faculty representing the full spectrum of biological subdisciplines. Small class sizes and handson learning are the norm in both introductory and advanced Biology classes. We have a large array of modern laboratory equipment and unique field resources.

With a total enrollment of approximately 2900 students faculty members develop relationships with students in small classroom settings and have opportunities to work closely with students on research projects experiential learning experiences and study abroad programs. The posted wage range represents CSB and SJUs good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors including the candidates experience qualifications and skills and may fall outside of the range indicated.

Responsibilities

A successful candidate will teach lectures and laboratories in a twosemester human anatomy and physiology (BIOL 325 / 326 courses taken primarily by preprofessional health students. In addition the candidate will teach a combination of lectures and laboratories in our introductory biology sequence (BIOL 100 and 200. BIOL 100 and 200 are built on the fundamental themes of biology (e.g. homeostasis reproduction etc.. Each semester the candidate will teach two lecture sections and 3 laboratory sections.

In addition to teaching the candidate will participate in departmental service such as advising. A successful candidate is welcome but not required to maintain a research program.
