Work Schedule: Eight 8 week cycle consisting of 4 days on 4 days off 4 days on 3 days off 5 days on 3 days off (x3 5 days on 4 days off 4 days on 3 days off; travel up to 1 of work schedule which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) and national travel; overnight trips average 1 trip per year.
Hourly Rate: $18.00.
Position Overview:
The Assistant Residence Hall Coordinator will assist the Summer Bridge Residence Hall Supervisor in administering the residential living component of the Summer Bridge Program. Their primary responsibility will be creating and safeguarding healthy quality of life in the SSS residence hall while serving as a resource person for SSS staff and students. General qualifications duties and responsibilities are listed below.
Essential Job Duties:
- Reside in the residence hall.
- Help facilitate move in and move out for student staff and Bridge participants.
- Establish and maintain a safe positive educational environment for program participants.
- Interact with and assist the Residence Hall Supervisor with supervision of students as well as peer staff in an academic and residential setting.
- Consult on a regular basis with the Writing STEM Course and SSS staff.
- Introduce and orient students to the residential community and its services facilities staff and functions.
- Encourage a positive community living environment in support of academic achievement.
- Foster an environment that embraces diversity and celebrates differences within the community.
- Notify residents of the existence of and rationale for college residence hall policies including the potential consequences for violation of policy.
- Model behavior and values that are appropriate for a member of the St. Olaf College community.
- Supervise and participate in academic social and recreational activities.
- Assist in the organization and planning of academic social and recreational activities.
- Provide crisis intervention personal adjustment counseling and disciplinary action as needed.
- Provide student staff with training in mental health first aid and traumainformed advising during training week.
- Provide conflict management during confrontations involving student staff and student participants.
- Assist and provide feedback during students poster evaluations.
- Host and provide supervision on all offcampus excursions.
- Coordinate off campus Target and Cub food runs.
- Attend all Pro Staff meetings throughout the week.
- Monitor residence hall front desk and take note of students leaving the building after hours 9pm to midnight).
- Be available to be on call after hours to assist students with any emergencies if they arise.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Complete appropriate records and close out of the Summer Bridge Program procedures.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
- Reports to the Sergeant Associate Director of Public Safety Director of Public Safety.
- This position does not supervise staff or students.
Required Qualifications:
- Recent SSS graduate required.
- Background in Residential Life.
- Be sensitive to the needs of firstgeneration college students and represent diverse ethnic/cultural backgrounds.
- Possess a high level of maturity the ability to work on a team selfdiscipline and experience in supervision of students.
- Exhibit professional and personal qualities necessary for working with students and staff.
- Understand the mission and objectives of the Student Support Services Program.
- Carry experience in residential life programs.
- Be approved to drive St. Olaf vans isREQUIRED by the start of Summer Bridge.If you are at least 18 years of age you arestrongly encouraged to become an approved driver. This is completed bypassing a motorvehicle background check and completing/maintaining the SafeColleges Online Driving Course certification that must be renewed every two years.
- B.A. Degree.
- Available to attend Summer Bridge orientation during the spring semester (April date TBD).
- Available to work the Summer Bridge program from late July through end of August.

RAs will receive a private room on a resident floor with no students participating in the program. RAs will also have access to their own bathrooms that will not be shared with any students or student staff. RAs will receive 2 days off alternating throughout the weekdays and both RAs will be required to work during the weekends.
