The Work Unit:
The Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division (HFEMSD) is responsible for the oversight and enforcement of a broad range of federal and state statutes and regulations applicable to a wide variety of healthcare facilities and services in Colorado including hospitals clinics ambulatory surgical facilities renal dialysis centers emergency medical services providers designated and nondesignated trauma centers long term care facilities and many other specific types of healthcare services. The division licenses certifies and surveys healthcare facilities and services; provides patient safety and healthcare quality programs; recognizes emergency medical service (EMS) education programs; certifies EMS providers and licenses air ambulance services operating within the state.
The Certification and Licensing (CLR) Program performs the administrative duties in HFEMSD. Each facility inspection requires an electronic and paper record. This unit sets up that record to allow the inspectors to complete their work. At the conclusion of the investigation this unit performs a quality assurance check on the investigation that was completed communicates with both state and federal partners and completes the record. Once completed the record is stored by the Records Manager in this work unit. This process is standardized for each facility type but differs across different facility types and requires a wide breadth of knowledge in the different processes.
Summary of Position:
This position provides assistance to the licensure and certification programs that are responsible for regulatory activities related to Medicare and Medicaid federal certification and state licensing. This position processes a high volume of complex licensure and certification application transactions to ensure compliance with standards and ensure the correct transfer of data from one system to another. This position analyzes fee schedules and providerservices to determine appropriate fees for licensure. This position implements procedures and guidelines established for the work unit and assists with the development and implementation of the work units goals and objectives consistent with statutory authority and supporting the Departments mission and goals. This position must be proficient in Word Excel and Google applications including drive docs sheets and forms. This position is responsible for supporting the electronic application for licensure and responding to frequently asked questions from providers. The information and situations presented by applicants can be complex. This position troubleshoots and reports to the work unit supervisor and program manager problems with the processing of transactions related to healthcare providers for licensure and certification. This position tests system changes explains systems rules and procedures to others and works directly with healthcare providers and management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Option 1 Experience:
Three 3 years of experience tracking and processing licensure and certification actions or similar applications while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Option 2 Experience & Education:
Associates degree or higher education will substitute for the required experience on a yearforyear basis. If using this substitution a college transcript must be attached to your application.
