Job Goal:
The facilities technician is responsible for all aspects of building maintenance and the maintenance of owned facilities and equipment. The primary responsibilities will include the coordination of preventative maintenance for facilities and equipment; operations and equipment; coordinate any remodels or constructions projects emergency repairs immediate cleaning if needed and performs other duties as required. The Facilities Technician provides onsite support across all schools within the Wayside Schools district.
Education/Certification/ExperienceQualifications:
* High School diploma or GED required
* 3 years of general maintenanceexperience in the following areas preferred:
Construction and finish work
Electrical
Plumbing
HVAC
Asphalt repair
Framing
Painting
Cleaning/ Porter
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
Skill Requirements:
* Committed to Wayside Schools core beliefs mission students and community
* Selfstarter with the desire to continuously learn and receive constructive feedback
* Willingness to be flexible and go above and beyond to meet the needs of Wayside Schools students
* Ability to effectively multitask and a strong attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment
* Ability to use computer as well as word processing and spreadsheet programs
Performance Responsibilities:
* Employees must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel between campuses.
* Working knowledge and experiences in the following areas: painting drywall plumbing electricity HVAC framing flooring cement work wood work lighting janitorial
* Other duties as assigned
Physical Effort and Work Environment:
* Work will predominantly be inside but outdoor work will occur.
* Working conditions may be in both heat and cold.
* Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more required. A
* Ability to work on knees on ladders and to stoop and bend required.

This position is nonexempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The hours are 6:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. however from time to time may work an extended schedule including weekends and evenings according to demands of the role and tasks.
