Job Description

This position is for the full academic year open only to enrolled upperclassmen.


Expected hours of work per week: 1015

Work Location & Hours: Mills Hall from 7 pm to 10 pm Monday through Thursday.

Qualifications for Position:

  • Students must have completed PHY 231 with a grade of B or above and must be approved by the instructor of that class. Students are expected to continue the calculusbased physics sequence again maintaining a B in each class.
  • Students must be able to interact with other students in a positive supporting manner.
  • Students must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Expected Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Workers are required to tutor students in both algebra and calculusbased physics classes and assist the faculty member in grading lab reports as directed by the instructor.
  • Other responsibilities would involve filing setting up lab equipment and monitoring students who are making up missed labs.

Resume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed

  • Career & SelfDevelopment including managing time and developing tutoring skills..
  • Communication in the form of speaking to fellow students.
  • Critical Thinking in the form of solving physics problems.
  • Global Literacy is displayed by working with students from different countries.
  • Leadership allows students to solve their own problems.
  • Professionalism by managing the work area and keeping it orderly.
  • Teamwork including working with other tutors.
  • Technology by learning how to grade labs on Canvas.
