About the area

The Directorate of Student Life sits within the Education Portfolio overseen by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education and Student Experience). Student Life plays an integral role in the shared strategic goal of providing a worldclass student experience.

The division of Student Wellbeing and Engagement facilitates a highquality student experience through the provision of integrated and comprehensive services. The Wellbeing team is responsible for the delivery of the UWA Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework focusing on opportunities for early intervention and timely access to low barrier services. Student Wellbeing and Engagement has five broad areas of Complex Case Management early intervention and cohort initiatives in Student Wellbeing counselling through the Psychology team; Student Engagement through Grand Challenges and the provision of a contemporary onboarding experience; and primary prevention initiatives and clinical response to genderbased violence through the Safe and Respectful Communities team.

About the opportunity

  • You will under broad direction work as part of a multidisciplinary team and be responsible for providing case management for students with multiple and complex needs.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure students receive adequate support.
  • Case management for students entering into / exiting the acute mental health system students in highrisk domestic violence situations sexual or sexual harassment student diversity equity and inclusion matters and other highrisk matters.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Experience providing case management and therapeutic interventions to a diverse group of students with multiple and complex needs including assessment crisis and shortterm intervention referral to and coordination of services. Ability to manage complex clinical problems and situations requiring immediate intervention.
  • Substantial experience in the provision of mental health support including suicide crisis and risk assessment and intervention.
  • High level communication and conflict resolution skills and an ability to develop innovative solutions and maintain a process of continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to establish partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure referral pathways and processes are in place along with a coordinated approach to providing care.

Special requirements

  • Some afterhours work (incident response).
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Current National Police Clearance Certificate.
  • Current registration with an associated professional organisation such as Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) PACFA (Psychotherapy and CounsellingFederation of Australia); or ACA (Australian Counselling Association).
