Job Description

The Factory Operations Program Manager (FOPM) is the SingleThreaded Owner (STO) for managing Factory Operations. The FOPM is responsible to manage factoryside programs from launch to end of production. The FOPM works with local and remote Program and Product Management Quality Technical Automation Engineering and Systems teams. The FOPM manages all aspects of factory readiness by establishing and driving schedules deliverables and dependencies.

Key job responsibilities
As Senior FOPM you:
* are responsible for all Site and Factory Operations readiness for assigned programs;
* create and manage detailed program schedules to drive readiness for all site buildout fitup and factory deliverables;
* ensure factory and equipment readiness to deliver to DPOs OnTime to Commit metric;
* manage track report and forecast all costs for site buildout fitup and factory deliverables;
* collaborate (shortterm) with cross functional teams and the postponement partner to plan weekly production equipment maintenance schedules and daily site operations;
* collaborate (longterm) with cross functional teams and the postponement partner to determine manufacturing strategy analyze and increase capacity and maintain/install manufacturing lines;
* manage contractors and suppliers for installation and maintenance of power and data drops/installations compressed air services and Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and other site equipment;
* oversee postponement partners warehousing operations to ensure shortterm warehousing best practices and to determine longterm storage needs;
* lead or participate in daily standup meetings during program launches control runs and line installations;
* report daily on program and factory metrics during program launches control runs and line installations;
* drive operational improvements using Lean and 6 practices;
* manage site planning site expansions and site security for DPO Operations;
* report program updates on a weekly and monthly basis to all levels of the organization;
* travel as needed to accomplish business needs.

At any stage of the program lifecycle the FOPM will be actively engaged in managing the factory ensuring the site is operationally ready and able to support our production goals.
* During Project Evaluation the FOPM is key to factory input to the evaluation process. The FOPM works closely with the entire DPO team to determine site requirements then provides cost estimates and other inputs to the program cost/benefit modeling.
* During Project Launch the FOPM works closely with the NPI OPM to define manufacturing strategies and factory fitup requirements. The DOPM establishes detailed program schedules for factory readiness identifies opportunities and risks to the factory schedule and ensures that all factory concerns are identified resolved or escalated as needed.
* During Production Launch the FOPM leads the daily standup meeting coordinates teams to identify and resolve issues and reports daily progress to production and yield targets;
* On any given day the FOPM will be on the line or in the warehouse meeting with the postponement partner driving schedules solving problems creating schedules or finding creative ways to solve issues.

Device Postponement Operations (DPO) is Amazon Lab126s team responsible for inregion postponement customization and packout of Amazons innovative devices. We finalize the assembly of devices using automated assembly and packout lines so that Amazon can customize products to meet justintime demand. We enable Amazon to deliver very quickly to our customers the right configuration of a product at low cost and high quality.

Amazons Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Inc. originally creating the bestselling Kindle family of products. Lab126 have produced devices like Fire TV the Echo Family of products and Astro. We deliver delightfully unique Amazon experiences giving customers instant access to everything digital or physical.


BS degree and 5 years of previous project management experience in Manufacturing/Operations OEM management and/or Supply Chain management.
Proven track record of managing complex programs with previous experience supporting the introduction of new products in a manufacturing or packout environment.
Proven experience in program schedule creation including Gantt charting (MS Project or similar) schedule milestone and dependency development;
Strong MS Office Skills with emphasis on Excel and Word;
Demonstrated success at assessing analyzing consolidating and communicating risk and status clearly and succinctly to management presenting options for resolution through product reviews.
Experience managing suppliers and supplier selection;
Excellent organization skills and ability to effectively manage multiple projects;
Demonstrated ability to gain deep understanding of the business and end user needs quickly;
Familiarity with Lean and 6 concepts and practices;
Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written;
Have experience partnering with geographically dispersed and/or adhoc teams;
5 years experience in factory operations working with and managing OEM/CM suppliers throughout the product life cycle from Concept to EOL.

6 Certification Yellow Belt or higher
Masters (of Science preferred) Degree in Operations Industrial Engineering or equivalent;
Experience working with automated equipment suppliers and integrators;
5 yrs of experience working with highvolume packout automation robotics or similar having demonstrated a proven ability to enforce design for manufacturing and automation;
10 years experience in factory operations working with and managing OEM/CM suppliers throughout the product life cycle from Concept to EOL
Published articles authored or coauthored journal or similar documentation
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
