Student Accounts Cashier
Role:
The campus cashier is the support staff for the Controller Student Accounts Manager Staff Accountant Business Office and Financial Aid. The primary responsibility is to receive reconcile and prepare deposits of cash checks and credit cards received by the university. Responsible for file maintenance of data including data entry of payments into multiple software systems recording data in the excel spreadsheet and manual filing of current documents. The cashier also provides customer service to students parents faculty and staff both on the phone and in person.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Process payments accurately in the appropriate system.
Performing cashier responsibilities such as reconciling and posting transactions and deposits daily.
Assists with cash audits to ensure compliance with cash management procedures
Answer phones and take care of walkins; direct to appropriate personnel/resource; answer student/parent questions about bills/balances award letters etc.
General office responsibilities.
Assist with issuing and recording parking tags and keys.
Ordering office supplies
Remote deposits backup documentation and ensuring financial compliance with financial consent regulations.
Reviewing and adding charges in mass by importing of external transactions:
Campus Store Charges
Bookstore charges
RA Payroll deductions
Running the Hold report viewing each account for status of additional holds removal of holds bring any issues with account balances to the student account managers attention making account recommendations.
Approval of Bookstore Accounts working with financial aid to establish credit amounts.
Collections reporting to the student account manager.
Setting appointments for the Student Account Manger to establish in house payment plans.
Contacting and following up with students who miss their payment plan payments.
Sending letters statements and making phone calls.
Enrolling Students in online Past due payment plans.
Reporting terminated or NSF payments to the student account manager.
Contacting students with 60 90 and 120 past due balances.
Tracking and maintaining the Aging report.
Making recommendations for students for collections.
Work with Student Account Manager in resolving parent and student account questions making recommendations for account problem resolutions.
Recording thirdparty transactions ACH or EFT funds received on student accounts checking for accuracy and communicating with students once funds are received.
Attend registration/movein events and meet with families regarding payment of bills and answer student account questions.
Advising students on steps to using online resources Nelnet Flywire Papercut Formstack and .
Maintaining and responding to or directing the student account department email and voice mail to ensure resolutions to account questions concerns or maintenance.
Account maintenance and account adjustments to student accounts with authorization and approval from student account manager and controller.
Other duties as assigned

keep all assigned drawers balanced daily
assist others within the department as needed
drawer balancing with bank on a daily basis
and implementing processes to streamline procedures
Customer service to students and parents.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Entrylevel; no experience necessary; six months of similar or related experience preferred
Education: A high school education or GED
Interpersonal Skills:
Courtesy diplomacy and tact are essential elements of this job. This job involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside of the university. Certain student information is protected and confidentiality is a must.
Other Skills:
Ability to multitask handle numerous details and perform a large volume of data entry accurately within a fastpaced environment.
Ability to handle the pressure of performing routine work efficiently and productively and to meet deadlines.
Computer literacy with Microsoft Office and the ability to work with printers copiers and fax machines.
Accuracy and trustworthiness in working with money recording monetary information and working with accounts.
Accounting knowledge is a plus.
