Position Title: Enrollment Counselor Department: Admissions

Title of Immediate Supervisor/Leader to Whom This Position Reports: Director of Undergraduate Admissions

*Expected Daily Work Hours: 8:00am 5:00pm *Expected Weekly Work Schedule: Monday Friday

* College offices are normally open from 8:00 AM until 5:00PM Monday through Friday. However due to the nature of responsibility to the student body individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening or weekend hours. Nonexempt employees will normally work 8 hours per (any hours in excess of 40 per week) for nonexempt employees is required to be approved in advance by the department supervisor. Exempt employees will typically work at least 40 hours per week and such additional time as may be reasonably required to fulfill the obligations of their position description. Such additional work may include evenings and weekends and should be described in this document.

The Enrollment Counselor serves as the liaison between Maryville College and assigned geographic territory to recruit new students to the College. This position works with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and is responsible for counseling and enrolling prospective freshman students at Maryville College.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education required to ensure success in this position:

  • Bachelors degree required.

Experience required to ensure success in this position:

  • Previous experience in Admissions or college setting preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of the liberal arts and churchrelated college environment.
  • Previous experience with MS Office (Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook) products. Ability and willingness to learn office specific software applications.

Special skills knowledge and abilities:

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a group.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality is required
  • Exercise good judgment and integrity in a highpressure goaloriented deadlinedriven environment
  • Must be highly motivated pleasant and polished.
  • Exceptional writing public speaking and presentation skills
  • Strong communication skills with ability to identify meaningful connections to the institution
  • Excitement about conveying benefits of a liberal arts education
  • Ability to utilize data to assess evaluate and validate decisions
  • Ability to manage small details within the framework of a big vision

License certification or registration necessary:

  • Valid Drivers License

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
  • ability to travel by and/or operate a vehicle or travel by plane to complete at least one primary job duty.

Environmental conditions:

  • Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors students staff and faculty.
  • May include travel requirements (occasional frequent etc. and some weekends.

Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:

  • Standard office equipment: computer phone etc.
  • Ability to operate vehicles college vans/cars/carts on a regular basis

Primary duties and responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability and predictable attendance is essential.   • Provide feedback and recommendations on current recruiting trends marketing materials and social media presence.
  • Develop recruitment plans for assigned territory including but not limited to: attending college fairs scheduling private visits at high schools oneonone meetings with prospective students and families information dropoffs at targeted high schools and organizations.
  • Provide monthly and yearend reports on territory activity (including prospect and applicant reports).
  • Recruit prospective students through college fairs/programs schools businesses churches and other professional contacts both locally and regionally.
  • Review process and evaluate applications and transcripts for admission and academic scholarship recommendations.
  • Provide followup for prospective students including telephone calls emails texts and letters.
  • Serve as the liaison with Financial Aid and provide guidance on financial aid awards.
  • Provide support for campus tours open houses orientations and other recruitment events on campus for prospective students and their families as needed.
  • Serve as a team member on interoffice committees.
  • Give admissionsrelated presentations to tour groups school groups and prospective students.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with faculty staff and students within the Maryville College community.

Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive respectful learning environment for all staff faculty and students.
