Realta Fusionis a rapidly growing startup developing compact magnetic mirror fusion energy systems to address the biggest challenge of our time tackling global climate change while ensuring a sufficient energy supply for at least ten billion people on (and off) earth. We are building a team with diverse talents dedicated to making fusion energy a real solution to humanitys most pressing problem.
This Mechanical Engineer will work with Realtas engineering and scientific teams to provide critical engineering and design input on Realtas technology development roadmap. The Mechanical Engineer will be a critical contributor to Anvil Realtas reactor scale simple magnetic mirror and primary technology development platform and Realtas firstofakind fusion pilot plant Hammir.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of primary and secondary mechanical fusion components and subsystems
- Work with core systemlevel development teams to define prototyping requirements
- Produce mechanical engineering designs drawings specifications and parameters from the physics basis with appropriate tolerances for vendor quoting and manufacturing
- Perform thermal structural and electromagnetic analysis and simulation using Ansys and COMSOL to develop assess and optimize designs
- Incorporate design for manufacturing principles and support first builds
- Support the design and implementation of tooling and manufacturing
- Design and execute qualification testing
- Communication: Synthesize and present technical work internally and externally communicate daily with project teams and leadership to support programmatic needs.
- Safety: Contribute to the establishment of company safety standards and lead implementation of these standards within R&D and Engineering team.

Required Qualifications
- Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
- Experience with current CAD software tools (Solidworks NX Creo etc. and engineering analysis software (COMSOL Ansys etc..
- Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written verbal public presentation) to collaborate effectively with colleagues external partners and stakeholders.
