Job Description

Classification Title:Core Rsch Facil Technician IIClassification Minimum Requirements:BA/BS in related scientific field required with handson experience in basic laboratory and scientific methods. Optionally 3 years of experience in science related field with at least 2 years in core specific applications. Researchbased experience preferred. Core or technology specific licensure and/or certifications where applicable. Additionally yearly certificate and compliance training if required.Job Description:

Perform case processing including receipt of human tissue gross and fine dissection tissue fixation freezing and cell isolation. DNA and RNA isolation and sample storage. Must participate in oncall schedule.

Respond to sample requests. Assist with sample archiving and retrieval for distribution. Operate multiple laboratory information management systems for sample tracking and histology. Assist in coordinating sample distributions and sample inventory management.

Assist in generating and collecting data. Slide scanning for nPOD and CaReT1D Online Pathology systems and slide archival.

Assist with routine lab maintenance including ordering calibrating and checking equipment for proper function. Assist with periodic preventative maintenance on Core instruments. Troubleshoot equipment failures and arrange for or help with repairs.

Review scientific literature to maintain and further understanding of Core technologies. Reviews facility use data for reports. Edit and write SOPs. Other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary:

Starting salary is between $19.00 $21.00 per hour

Required Qualifications:BA/BS in related scientific field required with handson experience in basic laboratory and scientific methods. Optionally 3 years of experience in science related field with at least 2 years in core specific applications. Researchbased experience preferred. Core or technology specific licensure and/or certifications where applicable. Additionally yearly certificate and compliance training if required.Preferred:

Experience working with human tissue DNA extraction RNA extraction and cell isolation. Training will be provided. High attention to detail and problemsolving skills. High proficiency in MS Office especially Access and Excel. Ability to maintain accurate records and inventories. Interpersonal/human relations skills.
