POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for coordinating the launch of new products/projects from prototype to highvolume production and striving to continuously improve our manufacturing processes utilizing lean manufacturing best practices. General responsibilities will include areas of manufacturing assembly tooling manufacturing engineering and new product line startup including assembly and test equipment validation and qualification associated with the development and commercialization of new precision motion products. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will work under the direction of the Operations Manager in a fastpaced collaborative environment supportive of program initiatives and compliant with Fortive Business System (FBS) best practices. In addition they also serve to mentor and guide production associates and junior engineers to assist with the completion of project related tasks and objectives. Key deliverables for the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be the establishment of manufacturing process to meet or exceed project Time to Market goals and operational metrics such as Safety Quality Delivery and Cost.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with design engineers on new designs with a focus on ensuring Design for Manufacturability and Design for Reliability.
  • Design and develop manufacturing processes including production flow assembly methods and production equipment documents processes via work instructions and trains team to standards.
  • Support the manufacturing team in resolving issues identified during production including those related to electromechanical components and systems.
  • Design develop and qualify pokayoke and fixturing strategies to be used in reducing process variation in assembly processes.
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues related to both electrical and mechanical aspects of systems.
  • Develop and implement process improvements related to cycle time reduction cost reduction and other activities by reducing/eliminating nonvalueadded activities.
  • Participate in design review and review/approve part drawings from engineering.
  • Act as customer advocate when addressing quality issues by utilizing problem solving techniques to drive to root cause / corrective action for any escapes.
  • Support the Engineering Change Order (ECO) system from generation through implementation.
  • Design tooling/fixturing and establish process flow that enables the safest possible working environment.
  • Establish part criticality levels based on design intent and correlation to system performance.
  • Perform first article inspections/qualification of internally machined and supplied parts as needed.
  • Implement AQLdriven sampling plans and methods to ensure part compliance and drive supplier accountability.
  • Design and test product packaging in accordance with ISTA standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills/Experience (Must Have):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Electrical Industrial Engineering or related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of handson onthejob experience as Manufacturing Engineer or in a related technical role.
  • SolidWorks drawing and modeling proficiency.
  • Understanding how electrical controls and mechanical parts work together.
  • Strong understanding of electrical components and their integration into electromechanical systems for troubleshooting and creating test procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing engineering quality tools and techniques including: FMEA Design for Manufacturability (DfM) Statistical Process Control and variation reduction.
  • Proficient with mechanical inspection using hand tools calipers force gauges etc.
  • Excellent computer skills (CAD Microsoft Office & ERP)

Desired Skills/Experience (Nice to Have):

  • Experience in machining and/or precision mechanical assembly.
  • Kaizen and/or Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of CMM inspection equipment.
  • Basic familiarity with ISO:9001 standard.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to RoHS and REACH.
  • Experience with complex electromechanical instrument or development manufacture and supply.

  • <5of overnight travel may be required for the position.
