The LitigationParalegal provides support to attorneys in the Litigation practice.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Understand the life cycle of litigation
  • Prepare pleadings: deposition notices basic petitions and subpoenas
  • Assist with factual and legal research including Blue Book and Cite Checking
  • Proficient using litigation research tools like Westlaw Lexis and Pacer
  • Create discovery templates for discovery request responses and motions
  • Coordinate with case team and the ediscovery vendor on all aspects of data collection
  • Understand how to research court rules in preparation for filings and coordinate with Docket team
  • Act as liaison with Document Services and other departments to coordinate TOC/TOA final formatting and specialized printing of briefs per guidelines in various jurisdictions
  • Prepare chronologies and create demonstrative exhibits such as charts graphs and maps
  • Assist in trial preparation including drafting exhibit list preparing witnesses and preparation of pretrial pleadings
  • Assist and coordinate requests with outside vendors
  • Oversee trial logistics

Qualifications

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Paralegal certificate from ABA approved paralegal program preferred
  • Notary Certification preferred

Professional Experience:

  • At least three years of substantive litigation experience as a Litigation Paralegal in a large law firm setting required.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
  • Knowledge of Relativity and general database management
  • Working knowledge and competency with legal case management software such as OPUS 2 preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
  • Ability to work under pressure meet deadlines with shifting priorities
  • Must be a selfstarter with a high level of initiative
  • Strong customer service skills able to anticipate needs
  • Strong attention to detail organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
  • Exercises solid strategic thinking and problemsolving skills

The typical pay scale for this position is between $59000 and $78000 although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidates education experience skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
