Software Development Manager Alexa Smart Properties

Want to join a startup team building new Alexa experiences for hospitality and other out of home segments Customers tell us they love the convenience of Alexa and smart home and we want to extend those experiences to shared living spaces such as rentals assisted living and more. You will be working with new exciting LLM technologies and being a part of the creation of new architectures and implementations that will be part of Alexa.

We are looking for a passionate hardworking and talented professional who has experience building innovative mission critical high volume applications that customers love. You will be a technical leader and have significant impact on the design architecture and implementation of services and experiences. We manage and create billing related software for Alexa Enterprise use cases.

The ideal candidate is passionate about Alexa and has a demonstrable track record of success in delivering new features and products. You take pragmatic and iterative approach to building software: you have an ability to simplify and get things done love experimentation and rapid iterations on the new concepts. You are focused thoughtful leader of your team who works effectively with external and internal partners. You are highly quantitative have great judgment and passion for building a great customer experience.

Define and execute the strategy for Alexa Enterprise product line
Recruit mentor and develop engineering talent
Collaborate across organizations to optimize Alexa experiences while meeting business objectives
Develop scalable software solutions supporting AEP business growth
Manage missioncritical services requiring 99.99 reliability and sub100ms latency

A day in the life
You will lead the software development lifecycle for enterprisescale solutions from initial architecture through production deployment. Your responsibilities include feature prioritization technical design and quality assurance. Success in this role requires experience building teams that deliver scalable global software systems while maintaining our dual commitment to customer satisfaction and engineering excellence.

About the team
Alexa Enterprise Products Team provides enterpriseready features making it easy to deploy integrate and manage Alexaenabled devices and experiences at scale for a variety of property types. We work on expanding Alexas use case by creating features and core Alexa system functionality that allows Alexa to be use by enterprises (as opposed to personal homes). You will be driving development of code to deliver these pieces of functionality.

3 years of engineering team management experience
7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

The base salary for this position ranges from $171400/year up to $286200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
