The Department of Natural Resources Division of Mining Land & Wateris recruiting for a Natural Resource Technician 2 in Anchorage.


This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

Please check ourresidency definition to determine if you qualify.



What You Will Be Doing:

  • Physically handle water rights case files review the file and then scan the file in order to create a digital copy of the file.
  • Compare the location of older water rights as shown in the file with the location as shown in current GIS data.
  • Identify any discrepancies and report them for correction.

  • Water and water management are a critical component in all resource and infrastructure development in the State of Alaska.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

This position is on the 10th floor of the Atwood Building in downtown Anchorage. The work is collaborative and quiet but it can also be widely variable depending on the workload. You will interact with other sections and staff daily.


We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following positionspecific competencies.

  • Clerical: Knowledge of filing typing entering data maintaining records taking shorthand and using and completing forms.
  • Flexibility: Is open to change and new information; adapts behavior or work methods in response to new information changing conditions or unexpected obstacles; effectively deals with ambiguity.
  • Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Adaptability: Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months of experience at the entry level performing technical functions of natural resource management equivalent to a Natural Resource Technician 1 Forest Technician 3 or Environmental Technician 1 with the State of Alaska.

OR
Six months of clerical work experience equivalent to an Administrative Clerk 3 or Recorder 1 with the State of Alaska.

OR
16 semester hours or 24 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution.

OR
Any combination of the above where 3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours is equivalent to one month of experience.
