Job Description

SUBSTITUTE POSITIONS ARE ONCALL ATWILL POSITIONS WITH NO GUARANTEE OF HOURS OR WORK.

Substitute Food Service Worker Pay Rate $21.22/hr

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

Under the general supervision of Food Services Director or Assistant Director with lead direction from the Food Service Worker III assists in the preparation assembly display and service of food to elementary school students. Maintains cleanliness and safety standards for facility and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepares food products including opening cans washing vegetables heating assembling and displaying food products.
  • Prepares food items for service to include: placing fresh and canned fruits and vegetables in bowls or pans filling condiment containers filling entre item pans.
  • Assembles food service areas.
  • Serves assigned meal items to student and adult customers.
  • Replenishes food items as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness sanitation and safety standards of the facility and equipment.
  • Cleans lunch room tables after lunch period.
  • Cleans kitchen; disassembles and cleans serving station and equipment; reassembles after cleaning.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience

None.


Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions and work at a moderately fast pace.
  • Ability to communicate in a cordial manner with students staff and parents.
  • Ability to work continuously at a moderate to fast pace.
  • Ability to fill the lead position when necessary.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to operate institutional kitchen equipment such as can opener oven etc.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Ability to proficiently speak write and understand English.

Certification and Licenses

  • TacomaPierce County Food Service Handlers Card
  • Successful completion of fingerprint and background check**


DESIRABLE QUALIFCATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six 6 months of work experience in an industrial kitchen.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed both in a food kitchen and lunchroom facilities. Exposure to extreme heat and cold moderate noise levels cleaning chemicals and sharp blades and industrial food service equipment. Ability to left 40 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds; standing for extended periods of time walk stoop bend crouch and carry items requiring a moderate amount of physical effort are all required. Work includes exposure to dish soap iodine bleach industrial cleaning products and moderate to loud noise levels.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employees responsibility. The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31 are eligible for medical dental vision long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pretax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
