Description
Our Medical Lab Assisant performs and evaluates semitechnical laboratory procedures on patient specimens test material/reagents blood products and quality control material. Works in various areas of the clinical and anatomic pathology laboratories.
Day shift: 8a4:30 Monday Friday
Duties may include registering patients ordering tests collecting samples and assessing the acceptability of samples for testing.
- Verifies and monitors all specimens received in laboratory for accurate packaging labeling and correct specimen collection requirements and are received appropriately.
- Maintains accurate and complete documentation on processes/procedures patient information and equipment maintenance ensuring compliance with all accreditation regulations.
- Observes universal precautions barrier protection methods and infection control and isolation procedures when working with body fluids and other contagions to ensure a safe work environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred and two years of experience.
- Degree in Biology Science or related major may be considered in lieu of experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 2050 lbs; 033 of the work day (occasionally); 1125 lbs 3466 of the workday (frequently); 0110 lbs 67100 of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking Occasional sitting Close eye work (computers typing reading writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
