Mechanical Technician
Location: Haydock Merseyside
Job type: Permanent / Full time / Onsite
Salary: 40000

The companys Head Office is at Westlakes Science and Technology Park in West Cumbria with systems integration assembly & testing facilities in Egremont Cumbria and design offices in Preston Lancashire. This is augmented by a manufacturing and test facility at Haydock Merseyside.

Overview of the role:
Assemble control panels and control systems to meet the clients requirements for functionality and quality. To be skilled in reading schematic drawings to assemble piping and instrumentation pieces. Work on electrical and mechanical components that are designed as a power point for operating electronic or technological equipment. To work with mechanical and electrical engineers in problemsolving solutions as it relates to the assembly process and the functioning of the panels and components. Also install the completed product or panel on a clients site.
Key responsibilities:
- Work as part of a project team with specific duties of assembly and debugging on special purpose industrial piping and instrumentation systems.
- Assemble install and test control panels and machine wiring to detailed mechanical drawings.
- Assist in the production of technical files and Lifetime records for control panels.
- Carry out full mechanical testing including witness testing of control panels.
- Produce red pen markup drawings and using AutoCAD produce asbuilt drawings.
- Communicate with Project Engineers / Managers regarding any related requirements or changes which require action.
- Produce Bill of Materials and produce quotations.
- Ensure calibrations of control panels or test equipment is carried out successfully.
- Carry out and maintain workshop equipment inspections.
- Inspect mechanical systems equipment and components to identify hazards defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes
- Test systems for flow pressure and integrity ensuring high levels of compliance.
- Plan layout and installation of piping and instrumentation designs.
- Repair or replace piping valves interlocks and fixtures using hand tools and power tools
- Construct and fabricate parts using hand tools and specifications
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services
What youll bring:
- Time served mechanical technician with C&G qualifications or equivalent
- Qualified to HNC/HND level in a relevant mechanical discipline
- Ability to facilitate witness testing
- Ability to safely install control panels and systems
- Ideally with a minimum of 2 years experience in a relevant environment
- Awareness of electrical/electronic systems would be a benefit
- Proficiency with Swagelock products
- Familiarity with Yokogawa and EndressHauser products
Nice to have:
- PLC knowledge would be a benefit but is not essential
