Job Description

Internal Job Title: Technical Trainer
Job Type: Permanent FullTime
Job Location: Ottawa ON
Work Model: Hybrid

 

Position Summary

We are looking for a Technical Trainer to design and deliver technical training programs for employees clients and endusers. The ideal candidate will have expertise in instructional design technical concepts and adult learning methodologies to ensure effective knowledge transfer. This role involves developing training materials conducting inperson and virtual sessions and assessing training effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Training Program Development

  • Design develop and update technical training courses for software hardware and IT systems.
  • Create engaging learning materials including presentations manuals videos and elearning modules.
  • Tailor training programs to different audiences including developers system administrators and endusers.

Training Delivery & Facilitation

  • Conduct instructorled training (ILT) and virtual training sessions for internal and external users.
  • Utilize handson labs interactive exercises and realworld scenarios to enhance learning.
  • Deliver workshops webinars and oneonone coaching sessions as needed.

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Assess learner progress and provide feedback to ensure knowledge retention.
  • Gather feedback from trainees to improve training materials and delivery.
  • Keep training programs up to date with the latest technology trends and industry best practices.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Work closely with technical teams to stay updated on product features and system changes.
  • Collaborate with HR IT and management to identify training needs and learning goals.
  • Develop onboarding training for new employees and technical certification programs.

 


Qualifications :

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Education or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Certified Technical Trainer (CTT) AWS Certified Trainer or Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) are an asset.

Technical Concepts & Methodologies

  • Strong understanding of IT systems software development networking or cloud computing.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and elearning tools.
  • Familiarity with instructional design models (ADDIE Blooms Taxonomy).

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and timemanagement skills.
  • Adaptability to different learning styles and training methods.

Experience

  • 36 years of experience in technical training instructional design or IT training.
  • Experience in delivering both classroom and virtual training.
  • Exposure to content development tools.

Technical Environment

  • Learning Management Systems (LMS): Absorb
  • Training Tools: Camtasia Microsoft Word PowerPoint Visio
  • Content Management Systems: SharePoint OneDrive
  • Collaboration Platforms: Microsoft Teams Jira Zoom WebEx

Mandatory Requirements

  • Language: Fluency in English (reading writing speaking)
  • Travel: Ability to travel domestically/internationally (passport required)
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain (in a timely manner) and maintain Government of Canada Reliability (Level 1 clearance
