Job Description

The Pipeline Commercialization Strategy organization leads development of the longrange strategic marketing plan of key assets in AbbVies pipeline and the forwardlooking disease area strategies. We have a dynamic opportunity for a Director Pipeline Commercialization Strategy Dermatology. 

This role will contribute to a specific derm indication disease area strategy and will serve as the global commercial lead for subsequent assets across pipeline deliverable teams. 

The Director will report to the Head of Pipeline Commercialization Strategy for Dermatology and will be based in our offices in Lake County IL. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Leads brand strategy team for assigned indication and collaborates with cross functional pipeline partners to enable study preclinical through phase 3 until transition to the onmarket team 
  • Conducts asset valuations to determine revenue potential with pipeline forecast market access and R&D teams to inform financial LRP portfolio planning and NPV analyses 
  • Develop appropriate SG&A investment to capture forecasted share that generate longterm value 
  • In collaboration with market research leader identifies key future market; value drivers segment growth opportunities and target product profiles 
  • Leads development of early brand plans for asset transition to onmarket teams 
  • Provides relevant commercial input regarding HCP and patient insights to inform scientific deliverable teams data generation plans to satisfy global and area requirements for target product label and potential product claims
  • Acts as information conduit between pipeline asset and onmarket commercial teams fostering high collaboration and effective communication that optimizes asset opportunity 
  • Builds strong relationships with internal and external partners including executive stakeholders US/Global onmarket commercial leads and external physician experts 

Significant Work Activities Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day) 


Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Pharma biotech or consultant firm experience is required 
  • Demonstrated learning agility and ability to make decisions with less than perfect information 
  • Demonstrated effective communicator with ability to tailor strategic implications by audience 
  • 10 years of experience with successful track record in pharma marketing and/or consulting roles 

Preferred: 

  • Advanced degree (MBA Ph.D. 
  • Experience in Dermatology / Immunology 
  • Previous pipeline management experience 
  • Experience working with external experts 
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills 
  • Strong financial acumen with understanding of P&L drivers

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
