As an Engineering Technician with the City of San Bernardino your day will be filled with a variety of technical and customerfacing responsibilities that support Public Works permitting and infrastructure projects. Youll:
Assist customers contractors developers and residents by providing information about engineering permit procedures and policies in person over the phone and via email.
Receive and review permit applications for completeness and compliance; calculate and collect applicable fees and issue permits in accordance with established guidelines.
Interpret and explain plan review corrections communicating with engineers architects and contractors to resolve discrepancies and answer coderelated questions.
Collaborate with inspectors internal departments and external agencies to coordinate and facilitate permit approvals and project documentation.
Maintain accurate records through both manual and electronic systems ensuring documentation is current and accessible.
Route engineering plans to appropriate departments for review and participate in multidepartmental coordination.
Provide public information related to sewer and water mains storm drains easements and other infrastructure records.
Stay engaged with public works initiatives and assist in supporting the successful delivery of infrastructure improvements in the city.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering architecture urban planning or related; and two 2 years of experience in permitting office field or technical support; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses Certifications and Equipment:
A valid State drivers license is required.
