Job Description
The SAP ABAP Consultant (BOPF) plays a pivotal role in the implementation and maintenance of SAP applications within an organization. This specialist focuses on developing and enhancing business applications using ABAP programming with an emphasis on the Business Object Processing Framework (BOPF). This role is critical as it bridges the technical and functional aspects of SAP solutions ensuring that business processes are optimized through effective software utilization. An SAP ABAP Consultant facilitates the development of reliable scalable and highperformance applications that meet the strategic goals of the organization. In addition they collaborate with crossfunctional teams translating business requirements into technical specifications while providing ongoing support and troubleshooting to enhance system functionality. The consultants expertise not only streamlines operations but also empowers users to leverage the full potential of SAP systems thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance ABAP programs focusing on BOPF framework.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications for SAP solutions.
- Perform technical analysis and design of enhancements to existing applications.
- Implement and optimize application logic using BOPF.
- Participate in system upgrades and migration projects.
- Conduct unit testing and facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Debug and troubleshoot ABAP code and runtime issues.
- Collaborate with functional teams to resolve issues effectively.
- Prepare technical documentation and user manuals.
- Enhance data models through proper use of the Data Dictionary.
- Ensure ABAP developments comply with SAP best practices.
- Provide technical support during project lifecycle and postimplementation.
- Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards.
- Stay current with SAP developments and industry trends.
- Contribute to knowledge transfer and training of team members.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in ABAP development.
- Indepth knowledge of BOPF framework and programming methodologies.
- Proficiency in SAP modules relevant to ABAP development.
- Experience with integration technologies such as IDocs and BAPIs.
- Strong problemsolving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Excellent debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Experience with User Exits and BAdIs (Business AddIns).
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts.
- Experience in Agile methodologies is a plus.
- Certifications in SAP ABAP are preferred.
- Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
- Willingness to stay updated with continuous learning and development.
