Job Title:Juvenile Rehabilitation Specialist
Location:Aberdeen WA Harbor Heights

Salary:$58380 $78468 The salary listed does not include an additional onsite 24/7 facility 5 premium pay.

The Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF) is accepting applications for aJuvenile Rehabilitation Specialist (JRS) to join our team to support residents for the newlyestablished Harbor Heightsas they learn and transition to the community by creating pathways for selfsufficiency through meaningful partnerships education employment new opportunities and resources.

The Opportunity:
You will create pathways for selfsufficiency as you provide oversight and coordinate the provision of various services to young people. Your work will ensure services are developmentally appropriate trauma informed racial equitybased and culturally relevant. You will serve as a liaison between education service providers and Juvenile Rehabilitation leadership and staff.

Some of what you will do:
  • Provide supervision facilitation and/or guidance to residents in education and enrichment programs.
  • Assist residents with academic and nonacademic issues that may impact their learning.
  • Work closely with contracted trainers presenters teachers and staff to support resident success and ensure that residents have the resources they need to achieve their academic and career goals.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to student conduct and academic performance.
  • Respond to emergent situations such as fights suicide attempts and disregulated behavior.
  • Assist in the search and apprehension of escapees and monitor resident movements as needed to ensure safety and security.
  • Input incident reports and client tracking information into the Automated Client Tracking (ACT) system in a timely and accurate manner.

What we are looking for:
  • Equivalent education and experience totaling six 6 years.
OR
  • One year as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor 2 (JRC2 or Juvenile Rehabilitation Community Counselor (JRCC) or Juvenile Rehabilitation Residential Counselor (JRRC).
OR
  • Bachelors degree AND two 2 years of professional experience in casework counseling probation and parole social services planning directing and/or facilitating youth group activities or experience in a related field.

Note: A Masters degree in Psychology Sociology Social Work Social Sciences or in an allied field will substitute for one year of the required years of experience.

Note: A degree in Social work must be from an educational program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

In addition to those required qualifications our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the followingdemonstrated understanding of the ability to knowledge in or experience with:
  • Treatment and intervention principles and practices
  • Ability to relate to clients from diverse backgrounds and cultural groups.
  • Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics societal trends and influences related to juvenile delinquency.
  • Adolescent development and juvenile rehabilitation practices and principles.
  • Providing cognitive/behavior therapeutic interventions.
  • Basic juvenile correctional system rehabilitation objectives in juvenile institutions basic interviewing and counseling theories and techniques basic concepts fundamentals and principles of individual and group behaviors introductory psychology of deviant behavior and crisis intervention methods and techniques.
  • Supervision and Lead techniques.
