JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic strategic and resultsdrivenprofessional to join our team in the role of Financial Analyst.

Reporting to the Finance Controller this position is responsible for through application of expertise as a professional finance analyst with indepth and wideranging knowledge of financial management systems programs and practices: Develops recommends and monitors the adherence to financial strategies policies procedures and guidelines. Participates in the development implementation and maintenance of financial systems and procedures. Provides leadership to management in the specialized area of financial management and resolves implementation and technical issues independently. Provides support to the manager in the discharging of due diligence through a professional challenge role within the business. Provides advice and guidance to line management through exercising professional and independent financial judgment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Analyzes system operating and maintenance costs and recommends changes to improve efficiency.
  • Ensures the integrity of the decision support process through support for the preparation and review of business case summaries.
  • Gives advice guidance and assistance to systems users on issues related to the scope of management system development operation and maintenance.
  • Maintains professional awareness in relation to current accounting practice GAAP and general business environment the utility industry and be able to communicate impacts and implications throughout the business.
  • Maintains and supports financial systems within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of financial information systems and procedures.
  • Provides management reports utilizing financial systems and other inputs and assists clients in interpretation of financial and operational results.
  • Reviews accounting practices and provides a due diligence assessment as to the accuracy consistency and appropriateness of analysis and conclusions being reached.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires 4year University Degree in Business Finance or Engineering.
  • Requires progression towards the achievement of a professional accounting designation (i.e. CA CGA CMA).
  • Requires a minimum of 4 years or up to 6 years of experience working in a financial or accounting environment in a comparable organization to become familiar in financial analysis controllership and financial systems.
  • Requires business experience with OPGs accounting policies procedures strategies guidelines decision making process and structures to understand business unit plans to assist in the development of financial strategies policies procedures and guidelines.
  • Requires experience with financial management systems to gain an indepth and wideranging knowledge to participate in the development and implementation of financial information systems.
  • Requires a knowledge of business related disciplines such as: finance business administration computer science or accounting to research analyze and provide input from stakeholders in the area of general accounting practices to assist in the development of strategies policies procedures and guidelines.
  • Requires knowledge of financial management systems to participate in the development implementation and maintenance of financial systems.
  • Requires knowledge of effective oral and written communication skills to prepare effective documentation to prepare financial procedures.

The base salary range considers many factors including but not limited to experience education and training including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular fulltime management roles includes payforperformance programs for annual and medium time periods.
