Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose for the Nursing Program Administrator II position is the responsibility for providing consultation and direction in the development utilization and implementation of policies and procedures for the evaluation of nursing program curriculum in Maryland schools of nursing. This position develops and implements policies for review and processingof the national registered and practical nurse licensure examination NCLEXRN and PNapplications. This position conducts independent data analysis evaluating and monitoring of RN and LPN nursing education programs to assure that the programs meet the standards andregulations of the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) of the US Department of Education (USDOE) and the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Masters degree in Nursing or a healthrelated field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five years of experience as a Registered Nurse including two years of experience in an administrative supervisory consultative or teaching capacity.

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degree in Nursing or healthrelated field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an administrative supervisory consultative or teaching capacityfor the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited college or universityfor two years of the required experience.

may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military serviceexperience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as acommissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a yearforyear basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • Exceptional leadership organizational writing and communication skills
  • Experience in nursing accreditation
  • Experience in curriculum writing
  • Knowledge in nursing education regulation

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing 4140 Patterson Avenue Baltimore Maryland 21215 or possess a current multistate license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
