Job Description:
We are looking for a Optical Engineering Technician to support the alignment and test of optical systems thermal and visual components. They will also insure quality through adherence to the Quality Systems Manual applicable Standard Work Instructions and other standards invoked internally or contractually. Adhere to budget and schedule commitments.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in alignment and troubleshooting of optical systems using common test and alignent equipment.
- Previous experience assembling and testing high precision optical systems
- Working knowledge of common inerferometer test set ups and interpretations.
- Review of optical tolerance models to assist with alignment instruction and risk mitigation analysis.
- Review and assist in the creation of optical assembly drawings and laser alignment data files.
- Work closely with mechanical engineers to ensure the proper mounting and positioning of optical elements.
- Contribute to the development of pragmatic optical alignment procedures and support the production floor on the proper of such procedures.
- Practical use and/or application of optical principles theories and concepts.
- Develops solutions to routine technical problems or limited scope.
- Contributes to completion of routine technical tasks. Failure to achieve results can normally be overcome without serious effect on schedules and programs.
- Fully proficient support individual contributor. Works under limited supervision. May be a resource to other employees in areas of expertise. Assignments are moderately difficult requiring some judgment.
- Works under limited supervision. Less detailed instructions are provided and minimal peer review is required.
- Communicates with contacts typically within and outside the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement. May be a resource to other employees in areas of proficiency.
- Work may be structured within identified boundaries and procedures. Follows established processes to complete tasks. Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations. Resolves most issues
- Light domestic and international travel environments up to 10
Qualifications:
- Ability to obtainU.S. DOD Secret Clearance
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years postSecondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- 5 years of hands on experience with optics
- Abitility to read and interpret optomechanical assembly drawings
Additional Skills:
- Works in a typical office environment and manufacturing environment
- Software used: Zemax CREO Microsoft Office
- The use of safety equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas
- Understanding of Imaging Performance measurement techniques
