Job Summary
Skilled craftwork preparing and applying paint to exterior and interior surfaces. This entrance level class lies below that of Painter Foreperson.
Essential Functions
surfaces to be painted by removing dirt scales rust old paint grease and other materials.
pressure washes ses and sands surfaces.
primers and sizing.
drywall plaster and other surfaces of furniture equipment and the interiors and exteriors of buildings.
tints and applies paint to furniture equipment and the interiors and exteriors of buildings.
and dismantles scaffolding.
and maintains rollers brushes and spray guns and makes minor repairs to equipment and apparatus.
and maintains work area as needed.
other duties as assigned.
Probation: Six 6 months
Qualifications
Open Requirements: Must have four 4 years of fulltime painting experience using tools and equipment of the painting trade such as spray guns rollers brushes paints varnishes lacquers enamels paint removers airless sprayers and pressure washers.

Licensing: A valid Florida Drivers License is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class. Depending on assignment a valid Florida Class D Drivers License may be required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of techniques methods practices and procedures used in painting that is acquired through training and job experience
- Knowledge of techniques methods practices and procedures used in painting interior and exterior surfaces
- Knowledge of drywall and plaster finishing
- Knowledge of the materials tools and equipment used in painting
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Skill in the use and care of materials tools and equipment used in painting
- Skill in basic oral written and interpersonal communications
- Ability to mix match and tint paint and colors
- Ability to read understand and apply jobrelated information and materials.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work at heights on extension ladders scaffolding or use aerial man lifts
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle
