Before & After School Program Summer Adventures Camp Teacher

Purpose Statement

The Before & After School Program Summer Adventures Camp Teacher is responsible for delivering a highquality engaging and ageappropriate program that fosters student learning social development and recreational enrichment. This position ensures a safe positive and structured environment while adhering to district policies program procedures and state regulations. The teacher will actively participate in activities implement curriculum and support student behavior management while also maintaining effective communication with staff families and administration.

Job Title: Before & After School Program Summer Adventures Camp Teacher

Hourly Wage: $16.00 $18.00/hour

Reports To: Manager of Before & After School Programs; Before & After School Program Summer Adventures Camp Site Leader/Assistant Site Leader(s)

Wage/Hour Status: NonExempt

Working Days

  • Attend Required Professional Development: Staff Orientation and Training as scheduled prior to camp start date
  • Attend site team meetings as scheduled potentially outside of program hours
  • Employment dates: approximately midMay through midAugust with opportunity to extend employment into the following school year
  • Monday through Friday on camp days as scheduled
  • Program hours: 6:30 a.m. 6:00 p.m.
  • Individual employee hours will be determined based on program enrollment and may vary weektoweek. Work hours may/may not match program hours depending on employee qualifications availability and program need.
  • Employees are scheduled up to 2940 hours per week

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with schoolage children in an educational or recreational setting preferred.
  • Successful candidates are subject to postoffer preemployment physical.
  • Strong understanding of child development classroom management and youth engagement strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and maintain a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication organization and problemsolving skills.
  • Must pass all required background checks and meet state licensing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified teacher or degreed professional or minimum two years college experience.
  • Minimum 2 years classroom/relevant experience working with schoolage youth.


Essential Functions

Program Implementation & Student Engagement

  • Facilitate and actively engage in handson ageappropriate academic enrichment and recreational activities.
  • Implement positive student behavior management techniques to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Encourage student participation and foster a positive inclusive and supportive atmosphere.
  • Adapt instructional activities to meet the diverse needs of students.

Supervision & Safety

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students by following district policies and state regulations.
  • Monitor and supervise students during program activities transitions and dismissal.
  • Respond appropriately to student incidents injuries and behavioral concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.

Communication & Relationship Building

  • Communicate program expectations and procedures clearly and positively to students.
  • Establish and maintain strong supportive relationships with site staff families and program leadership.
  • Address parent inquiries and concerns professionally ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Collaborate effectively with program staff site leaders and administrators.

Administrative & Operational Duties

  • Accurately record and maintain student attendance communication logs and programrelated documentation.
  • Manage and maintain program materials and supplies ensuring resources are available for activities.
  • Assist with special event programming field trips and guest speakers.
  • Monitor facility cleanliness and ensure proper use of program space.

Professional Development & Compliance

  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification with AED training as well as other required program certifications.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development staff meetings and required training sessions.
  • Adhere to program policies procedures and state licensing requirements.
  • Stay informed of program updates and actively implement new initiatives as required.

Working Environment

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: lifting carrying pushing pulling climbing reaching driving standing and walking. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress.
