Camp Carmel Creek is a program of The San Diego Jewish Academy. We create summer adventures filled with joy growth curiosity and intention through a unique model combining classic daycamp the focus of a specialty camp and the connection of a sleepaway camp. We believe lifes most valuable lessons come from independent discovery and perpetual curiosity. That is why we built a summer camp that inspired curiosity by putting kids in charge of their own adventures.

Responsibilities
- First phase of this role (MayJune) is serving as substitute garden educator for our Lower School (K5th) and ECC 2sPreK). Approximately 3035 hours per week Monday Friday. Second phase begins on June 16th at the start of the camp season.
- Plan and lead engaging handson gardenbased lessons for campers in kindergarten through 6th grade focusing on plant science ecology sustainability and outdoor exploration.
- Create a positive and inclusive environment where campers can develop curiosity teamwork and a connection to nature.
- Incorporate camp spirit enthusiasm and interactive learning into daily gardening activities.
- Guide campers in planting watering harvesting and caring for a variety of plants while teaching responsible stewardship of the environment.
- Work collaboratively with other camp staff to integrate gardenbased learning into campwide events nature activities and theme days.
- Participate in staff training before camp begins to ensure a safe and enriching experience for all campers.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining the garden space before during and after the camp season.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of campers while fostering a sense of adventure and respect for nature.
Leadership: AAs an activity specialistyou are responsible for your own group of campers. You support them you guide them you mentor and coach them you are there to give them the best summer ever.
Communication: Good communication between you and your campers between you and your supervisor between you and your coworkers is essential to a successful day at camp.
Organization: Following the schedule getting to activities on time being creative and planning programs for your campers on a daily basis.
Problem Solving: Good problemsolvers are adaptable resilient collaborative and openminded. A camp day presents many opportunities to flex these muscles.
Teamwork: Camp is not about the individual. Success is not defined by what you do alone its about what we do as a team. Learning to work together and rely on each other to achieve our goals is whats most important.
Salary Range: $22$30 per hour. Our pay scale is based on level of schooling and experience.
