Specific Accountabilities:
- Understands the validity criteria for active barriers Independent Effective and Auditable
- Demonstrates experience of confirming/checking/ensuring validity of barriers during DR/HAZOP/IPF/BowTie/ALARP demonstration decisions and Risk assessment.
- Intervenes where necessary during the workshops/ during decision making to check/ensure validity criteria for barriers.
- Identifies/leads the team to identify Escalation Factor and Escalation Factor Controls during BowTie workshops or equivalent reviews.
- Identifies HSSE Critical Activities or Tasks to maintain the integrity of new Hardware and Human barriers. Identifies HSSE Critical Activities or Tasks that are missing to maintain the integrity of existing Hardware and Human barriers.
- Prepare/facilitate/develop ALARP demonstrations for projects starting from Identify/Assess phase up to Operate and decommissioning phase. For FEED/DD projects provides input/compliance statement to project ALARP demonstration or Statement of Fitness requirement elements/checklist.
- Competent to check assumptions inputs used in SIL classification/IPF/LOPA workshops.
- Developed (design) HSE Cases and manage Interface with other disciplines.
- Demonstrate experience of Timely & quality closure of project HSE actions.
- Competent to identify and develop required deliverables for Facility Change Proposals/Field improvement Projects.
- Prepared/actively participated in DR/HAZOP/IPF/Retro HAZOPs.
- Provided inputs/attends interview during PreStartup Audit PSUA and other assurances.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 12 years total experience in production or engineering of oil and gas facilities including a minimum of 10 years experience in TSE in Oil and Gas.
- Experience in Physical Effects Modelling and Quantitative Risk Assessment.
- Previous experience/conducted studies using Shell FRED SHEPHERD software and or other PEM/Risk integration software.
- Formal certification in Technical Safety will be preferred.
- Competent to interpret & apply Technical Safety engineering related industry standards in to projects.

- Shell DEPs into projects
- PDO standards into projects
- Fire safety and Fire Protection/NFPA Standards.
- Passion to contribute/provide inputs/feedback to PDO standards and systems improvements.
- Shell DEPs into projects
- Understands the process of variance/deviation management and competent to provide required inputs/engagement as per Variance Tracking Tool.
- Understands PDO project Management of Change PMoC process and able to provide required inputs (if required).
- Safeguarding: competent to advise projects and/or competent to identify anomaly to following topics:
- Overpressure & under pressure Safeguarding offplot and onplot;
- Venting flaring and relief;
- Flare and Relief Hardware/installation;
- Blowdown and/or drain systems;
- Hazardous Area Classification and selection of appropriate equipment/Electrostatics.
- Overpressure & under pressure Safeguarding offplot and onplot;
- Competent to interpret & apply technical safety and fire engineering related industry standards in to projects (NFPA API EI PDO Shell Total ADNOC)
- Competent to conduct firewater demand calculations.
- Competent to conduct steady state/transient hydraulic analysis of firewater system.
- Understands and can implement applicable design procurement construction commissioning and operation & maintenance requirements for:
- Active fire protection systems
- Passive fire protection systems
- Firewater ring main and distribution systems
- Firewater pumps/storage tanks/deluge systems
- Fire & gas detection systems
- Gaseous fire protection systems
- Active fire protection systems
- Facilitated/led workshops for Technical Safety which may include but not limited to HAZID HAZOP BowTies ALARP demonstration MOPO/SIMOPs workshop SCE Identification workshops DEM1/DEM2/LFI Screenings and demonstrations.
