**This is an INTERNAL POSTING open ONLY for current employees of the NC Department of Adult Correction and eligible RIF candidates from NC State Government.**


Reporting to the Associate Warden of Custody this position is involved in the planning supervision and coordination of activities at a multicustody female correctional facility. Job responsibilities of this position include but are limited to the following:
  1. Disseminating and interpreting rules regulations and orders from prison management.
  2. Supervising Correctional Lieutenant IIIs and serving as the OfficerIn Charge (OIC) as needed.
  3. Conducting frequent inspections of housing units and other buildings grounds and posts to ascertain that officers/staff are alert that discipline is maintained and that assignments are being carried out effectively.
  4. Implementing disciplinary measures with offenders and employees on infractions of rules and working to prevent or resolve disorders such as: s riots fires and escapes.
  5. Investigating complaints of offenders and making reports of such actions to higher lever officials.
  6. Preparing reports on offenders pertaining to their behaviors attitudes and work records for use on the offender classification committee.
  7. Organizing and conducting training for employees.




Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies



  1. Documented experience with report writing.
  2. Documented knowledge of Prison Policies and Procedures/or Facility Operations.

The Division of Institutionsis one of the divisions in DAC andemploys a variety of staff operates 56 institutions and is responsible for the care and custody of approximately 30000 incarcerated individuals across North Carolina. Our division categorizes the institutions into 3 custody levels which include minimum medium and close. The Division of Institutions has a duty to provide a secure and safe environment along with the proper care and supervision for every individual in our custody.
