As a Development Engineer/Scientist the candidate will be responsible for conducting leading edge research and development activities with a specific application to manufacturing production or quality operations or similar national applications. The position requires a selfmotivated candidate that can readily apply technical principles of chemistry materials science mechanical engineering and related fields. The candidate should have experience with one or more analytical test methods and equipment types which may include dilatometry optical microscopy LFA microindentation profilometry SAES SEM XPS XRD XRF or other methods. The candidate must be able to interpret engineering requirements use good scientific judgment for planning further analysis work based on prior results write technical reports be able to present scientific results clearly and concisely to project teams and stakeholders and propose and execute solutions to complex problems in the area of materials science.
Bachelors degree in engineering/science discipline with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA with a minimum of 4years of relevant experiencefrom an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico the Washington Accord or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET.
OR aMasters degree in engineering/science discipline with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA and 2years of relevant experiencefrom an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico the Washington Accord or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET.
OR a PhD in engineering/science discipline with a minimum 3.5/4.0 cumulative GPAfrom an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico the Washington Accord or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET.
There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years postgraduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript. Beyond four years from graduation engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire
In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e. Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major 2 years jobrelated and 1year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)
