ROLE Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION Hereford
TERM Permanent
SALARYper annum dependent on experience
My client manufactures a specialist products for a variety of sectors. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Hereford.
They are happy to consider a range of experience for the role form a minimum of 2 years up to Senior.
The Design Engineerwill ideally have the following attributes:
- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar Design Engineering / CAD Operation position
- Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar is desirable but not a necessity
- Previous experience with SheetMetal / Fabrication is desired.
- Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks Inventor Creo etc.
- Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
- Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multidisciplinary team
- Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations
- Any previous experience of working with process machinery or steel / metal materials would be desirable
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient using MS Office
- Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
The Design Engineer role will involve:
- Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
- Producing 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor CAD software and 2D designs with AutoCAD
- Liaising with manufacturing providers
- Being involved in final assembly of products
- Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
- Updating 3D models and drawings
- Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
- Checking drawings for sign off
- Working in a small multidisciplinary team on varied projects
