GENERAL PURPOSE
Reporting to the Superintendent the Chief of Staff serves as a strategic advisor and operational leader ensuring effective coordination communication and of division priorities. This role provides adaptable highlevel leadership and oversight across critical areas of Stafford County Public Schools (Stafford Schools) with specific responsibilities tailored to align with district needs and the strengths of the incumbent.
The Chief of Staff collaborates closely with the Superintendent and senior leadership team to advance strategic initiatives including Elevate Stafford while fostering strong relationships with the school board staff families and community stakeholders. The Chief of Staff also supports constituent services legislative advocacy and organizational improvement efforts.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide strategic leadership and oversight for continuous improvement
- Provide leadership across departments or initiatives as assigned with a focus on supporting student success and district improvement.
- Promote coherence coordination and strategic alignment across district functions.
- Partner with principals and school leadership to enhance schoollevel performance and support.
- Support implementation and monitoring of the districts strategic plan.
- Advance systems for datainformed decisionmaking and continuous improvement.
- Facilitate crossfunctional collaboration to achieve strategic goals.
- Support the development of the school boards annual legislative program.
- Represent division interests in policy discussions at the local state and federal levels.
- Monitor and communicate the impact of proposed legislation on Stafford Schools.
Ensure effective responsiveness to board constituents and other stakeholders
- Coordinate timely and accurate responses to board member inquiries in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Oversee systems to manage and respond to community and stakeholder concerns directed to the Superintendent or school board.
- Cultivate relationships with staff families community partners and elected officials.
- Promote a collaborative inclusive and responsive culture throughout the division.
- Ensure timely professional and transparent communication.
- Analyze constituent trends to inform districtlevel improvements.
Serve as senior advisor designee and liaison to the Superintendent
- Serve as a key liaison and advisor to the Superintendent anticipating needs and helping to manage highpriority initiatives.
- Prepare executivelevel reports communications and presentations.
- Represent the Superintendents Office at meetings and events as appropriate.
- Assist in the preparation and followup from board meetings ensuring alignment with division objectives.
- Provide strategic support and briefing materials for the Superintendent.
- Lead or support special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Masters degree in education public administration or a related field required; advanced degree in educational leadership preferred.
- Minimum of five 5 years of leadership experience in K12 education or a comparable field required.
- Experience in strategic planning organizational leadership or legislative advocacy preferred.
- Possession or eligibility for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional Licensed with an endorsement in administration and supervision strongly preferred.
- Valid Virginia drivers license required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work environment is inside an office with moderate noise controlled temperatures and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
- The work is light work requiring exertion of up to twenty pounds of force to move or lift objects.
