Job Description

The State College Area School District is seeking applicants for an anticipated school psychologist position who can provide a servicedelivery model that directly reflects aspects of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) Practice Model which includes the following essential functions:

  • Conduct psychoeducational assessments in support of Chapter 14 Chapter 15 and Chapter 16 of the PA School Code (Special Education 504s and Gifted Education) from students in grades PreK12.
  • Provide services consistent with ethical legal and professional standards.
  • Apply professional work characteristics needed for effective practice as a school psychologist including effective interpersonal skills responsibility adaptability initiative dependability technological competence advocacy skills respect for human diversity and a commitment to social justice and equity.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Successful completion of a masters and certification degree in a School Psychology Program (preferably a NASP approved program).

Certification: Pennsylvania school psychologist certification

Experience: Knowledge of MultiTiered Systems of Support using Response to Intervention to identify learning disabilities assessment and test theory diagnostic categories learning disabilities statistics and counseling theories; knowledge of and adherence to legal procedures as contained in local state and federal policies governing special education including IDEA laws and guidelines; knowledge of and adherence to professional and ethical standards of the American Psychological Association and the National Association of School Psychologists; knowledge of counseling techniques behavioral management techniques classroom instructional interventions and parent training strategies.

Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills time management organizational strategies and effective use of technology are required. Expertise in working with schoolaged children is preferred.
