Job Description

PAY GRADE:Grade L (Exempt Salary Schedule)

DEPARTMENT:Academic Support Program

ACCOUNTABLE TO:Director of Academic Support Programs

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SUMMARY:Under general direction incumbent(s) designs and implements programs for the afterschool academies including the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center Grants as well as collaborated funding though Title I IV VI and Refugee funding. Incumbent(s) supervises afterschool academy staff and communicates with staff parents students and constituents regarding the offered programs.

Essential Functions:

Designs programs and oversees program implementation of the Afterschool academies including the 21st Century Grant by:

  • Managing collaborated funding though Title I IV IV and Refugee funding within the Washington Elementary School District;
  • Communicating district procedures and policies as centers provide program delivery based on approved grant plans;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of programs using a variety of project evaluation tools; and
  • Modifying program activities as needed.

Supervises with the Administrator of Academic Support Programs 21stCentury Site Coordinators and Community Outreach Specialists by:

  • Fulfilling site coordinators agreements program observation providing and conducting staff development and maintaining personnel records. Conducts regular site visits;
  • Communicating the Academic Support Programs Department policies and procedures in the areas of hiring purchasing submission of timesheets student safety nutrition services (including snack and summer meals) transportation supervision of instructors budgeting proper use and inventory of equipment timelines for reports data collection and Annual Reports;
  • Overseeing the required 21stCentury attendance processes in the WESD Student Management System;
  • Setting up teacher groups and training Site Coordinators on how to assign students in the system; and
  • Providing technical support to Site Coordinators and works with MIS/Helpdesk to resolve issues in Synergy. Works with the Office Specialist to run attendance reports and add students in the system. Works to ensure that attendance reports are accurate in all systems.

Provides support to the Administrator of Academic Support Programs in program planning and organization by;

  • Creating timelines for project management;
  • Addressing the needs of centers communicating important information to staff;
  • Educating the district stakeholders and the community about the scope importance and potential of the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century grant and any additional funding sources.;
  • Conducting research to improve program implementation and evaluation.
  • Seeking funding sources to sustain the 21st Century programs:;and
  • Serving as liaison to coordinate activities events or programs with other agencies that support student achievement.

Performs other related duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

Bachelors degree in Education Social Work or related field;

Two years of supervisory experience;

Two years of public school district experience;

Valid Arizona Department of Transportation Drivers License.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

Masters degree in Education Social Work or related field;

Three years of teaching experience;

Three years of teaching social work program management administration or related experience.
