Job Description

The Child Care Worker provides care for children of Atlantis Charter School employees who are below school age and are enrolled in the Atlantis Charter School Child Care program. The Child Care Worker will provide care for childrens basic needs while the parent is at work onsite such as feeding and changing. Additionally the Child Care Worker is committed to Atlantis Charter School Board of Trustees policies regarding equity human rights and cross cultural understanding and reports to the Principal of the school or his/her designee.

This position is part time with flexible hours between 48 hours per week with the additional opportunity for shifts on a per diem basis. The hourly rate is $18. There may be an opportunity for additional hours in our after school program for students from grades K6

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with infants and toddlers in a day care environment preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to relate well to others

SUPERVISION: None

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: While actual roles and responsibilities will vary depending on individual circumstances Child Care Worker will generally be required to perform some or all of the following tasks. Note that this list in not allinclusive and that the administrator may also assign other tasks he/she deems appropriate.

  • Discusses care of child with parent and/or guardian and make notes of any special instructions.
  • Communicates any questions or concerns with parent and/or guardian on a regular basis.
  • Contacts parent and/or designee on work site in the event of any immediate concerns or emergencies.
  • Works individually or with a group of children depending on the number of children attending program.
  • Creates a safe caring and comfortable environment for children.
  • Changes diapers and clothes of infants and toddlers as needed.
  • Allows for rest time for children as directed by the parent and/or guardian.
  • Assists in providing meals and drinks to children as directed by the childs parent and/or guardian.
  • Encourages children to care for and pick up books and toys.
  • Supervises rest periods and change crib sheets when needed.
  • Washes and sanitizes toys and equipment daily.
  • Puts toys and equipment away at the end of each day.
  • Encourages and supervises play time activities such as; singing playing with toys drawing coloring games and reading.
  • Assists children with health and personal habits such as eating resting and toilet habits.

  • Maintains and respects strict confidentiality of any sensitive information related to Atlantis Charter School its faculty staff and students.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: At will employment. Hourly rate as negotiated per agreement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ability to walk sit bend stoop and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in noisy environment.
