Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager the Principal Database Administrator will design implement and manage AWS RDS databases ensuring high availability scalability and optimal performance. Telecommuting is available from anywhere in the US with managers approval.
You Will:
Perform database administration tasks including backup and recovery monitoring and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to understand application requirements and provide database solutions that align with business goals.
Conduct regular database performance tuning and optimization to enhance efficiency and responsiveness.
Implement and enforce security measures to safeguard sensitive data and comply with industry standards and regulations.
Stay up to date on AWS RDS advancements recommending and implementing best practices to optimize database infrastructure.
Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations procedures and troubleshooting guidelines.
Participate in oncall rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical database issues.
You Have:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering Information Systems or a related STEM field followed by 7 years of progressively responsible experience with database administration and management for largescale production databases in a cloud environment.
3 years of experience with database performance optimization security and disaster recovery strategies;
3 years of experience with database backup and recovery monitoring and troubleshooting issues;
3 years of experience with cloud database security and troubleshooting;
3 years of experience with implementation of controls and policies for privacy data security laws and regulations;
3 years of experience with architecting designing implementing and supporting of cloud based infrastructure and its solutions for databases;
3 years of experience with database technologies including MySQL AWS Aurora Oracle and PostgreSQL;
3 years of experience with automation tools including Python Shell scripting CloudFormation and Terraform; and
3 years of experience with AWS Tools and Services including Aurora DB Aurora Serverless DB Auto Scaling CloudWatch DynamoDB Lambda Redshift Athena Route 53 Performance Insight and Enhanced Monitoring.
Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $156000.00 $195000.00 per year. In the U.S. Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
