ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Assessment Research and Evaluation staff supports a model of continuous improvement for the school district by providing data on critical factors that impact educational experiences and achievement from instruction to professional development and school culture.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for five Youth Data Analyst interns to join our Assessment Research and Evaluation team this summer. Our team is looking for students who will help us analyze district data through the lens of race theory current education research and their own experience. Students will also be introduced to the research process as it relates to the history of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) data collection methods and analysis. Much of this summers curriculum will be grounded in the University of CaliforniaBerkeleys Youthled Participatory Action Research (YPAR) Hub and Minnesotas conversations about the opportunity gap in education.
This summers project will examine SLPs Teacher Development and Evaluation rubrics and aim to help our teaching community understand what parts of the rubric have been most impactful for student learning based on students experiences. The goal of this internship will be to support our school leaders in creating Continuous Improvement Plans (CIP) that will center student voice. Our students will present their findings on August 14th 8 am noon) at our annual Data Advance. Any student interested in this topic is encouraged to apply.
This summer position starts on June 17 2025. Students will have an opportunity to extend their research projects unpaid through theacademic year based on student interest.
Interns will earn $1200 (before tax). Students who have not graduated from high school will earn high school credit for successful completion of the internship. Students will also earn a letter grade based upon successful completion of the requirements of the internship supervisor evaluations documentation of hours worked and student written reflections.
